In March 2008, the Hoi Chiu Art Gallery opened in the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) in Kowloon.The Gallery actively promotes mask and puppet art in Hong Kong with several successful workshops having been held, including <> for the Hong Kong International Arts Carnival 2008 (Leisure and Culture Services Department), and the <> sponsored by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Hoi Chiu has been invited by many schools to demonstrate and teach the basic production and performance techniques of mask and puppetry.

The Hoi Chiu Art Gallery takes part in various performances, such as the Community Festival at JCCAC and the JCCAC Standard Chartered Arts in the Park – Mardi Gras 2008. For the Mardi Gras, Hoi Chiu created an eye-catching 14-foot-tall puppet that became the focus of the event.
The Gallery puts much effort into the promotion of performing arts.

Since August 2008, free performances – called <> – have been offered on the last Friday night of each month to provide both a platform for youth who are interested in performing and a chance for the general public to learn more about these art forms. A variety of performances are offered, such as mask, mime, drama, music, and video. The shows involve not only the Hoi Chiu Art Gallery staff, but also other JCCAC artists.




木人行

由本地藝術家海潮在2008年3月,進駐石硤尾賽馬會創意藝術中心之後成立,全名為 “木人行 – 海潮工房面具木偶美術館” 。

< 木人行> 積極推動本地的面具及木偶藝術,在成立短短的日子內已舉行多個工作坊,當中包括與 “康樂及文化事務署 – 國際綜藝合家歡2008” 合作的 <夢世界>工作坊,以及由 “香港藝術發展局” 資助的 <白日夢>工作坊。除此之外,<木人行> 亦有獲學校邀請,到多間學校示範及教授面具、木偶和皮影的基本製作及演出技巧。

至於演出方面,<木人行> 曾擔任由石硤尾賽馬會創意藝術中心舉行的 “社區藝術節” 及 “渣打藝趣嘉年華” 的表演團體,其中在 “嘉年華”,<木人行> 製作了一隻超過 14呎高的巨型大木偶,成為全場焦點。

另 外,<木人行> 在推動表演藝術上也是不遺餘力,從08年8月開始,在每月的最後一個星期五晚上舉行一場名為 <木人月事> 的免費表演,節目包括面具、默劇、話劇、音樂演奏、短片播放等等...亦曾有藝術中心內的其他藝術家參與其中,主要目的是開放一個平台,令更多有興趣表演 的年青人有機會演出,並讓更多市民有多一個途徑欣賞表演藝術,享受當中的樂趣。
